Quentin James on Why Money Controls the Black Vote | Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell Podcast

We're renters in our own politics — and Quinton James, President of the Collective PAC, is here to change that. This conversation goes behind the curtain on how Black political power is actually built, who funds it, and who profits when we don't.
Quinton James is the founder and president of the Collective PAC — one of the largest Black political action committees in the country. Over 10 years they've raised over $50 million, helped elect more than 500 Black leaders from city council to Congress, and built the infrastructure most campaigns won't talk about publicly.
In this episode of Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell, we go deep on the money, the strategy, and the uncomfortable truths about where Black political power actually lives — and who's controlling it.
In this conversation:

Kamala Harris raised over $1 billion in 107 days — less than 3% went to Black vendors. What does that tell us?
What's the difference between access and ownership — and why Black communities keep settling for access?
Is the new generation of Black leadership too comfortable being accepted to actually be effective?
Why the state level — not Congress — is where the next decade of Black progress will be won or lost
What the Ohio governor's race means for Black political power in 2026
Why division is the single biggest threat to Black political infrastructure right now
How Black media fits into the fight — and what independent Black platforms must do now

About Quinton James:
President and Co-Founder of the Collective PAC — the leading Black political action committee in the country dedicated to electing Black leaders at every level of government. CollectivePAC.org

Tennessee Redistricting: The Supreme Court Just Killed the Voting Rights Act | Strategic Moves Clips

Tennessee redistricting happened in 8 days. The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act — and Black congressional representation in Tennessee is gone.

On May 7th, 2026, Tennessee became the first state to act on the Louisiana v. Callas ruling that stripped Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. They drew new maps. Called a special session. The governor signed it. The only majority Black congressional district in Tennessee — carved up and eliminated.

Before today: 1 Black congressman in Tennessee.
After today: 0.

This is not a Tennessee story. President Trump has called on every Republican-led state to follow. Louisiana. Alabama. South Carolina. This is a coordinated national strategy — and Ohio is next.

In this episode of The Resource Room, Kenn Dowell breaks down:
▶ What Tennessee did and how the Supreme Court made it legal
▶ What the Louisiana v. Callas ruling means for Black political power nationwide
▶ The math behind voter dilution — and why outrage is not a strategy
▶ Why Cleveland and Ohio are in the center of this fight
▶ The official launch of Freedom Summer 2026

Tennessee showed us the attack.
Cleveland is going to show the country the response.

Black Political Power Starts With Media Ownership—Here's Why

Black Political Power Starts With Media Ownership—Here's Why. In this powerful roundtable, Kenn Dowell, Dr. Heather Burton, Judge Michael Nelson, and Joe Little introduce a new Black-owned media platform redefining culture, faith, politics, and entertainment in Cleveland and beyond.

The Strategic Moves Network officially launches as Cleveland’s newest Black-owned media platform focused on faith, culture, politics, business, and entertainment. This in-depth roundtable discussion explores why Black media ownership matters, how controlling our own narratives shapes political power, faith conversations, community accountability, and cultural influence.

Ken Dowell is joined by Dr. Heather Burton (Sanctified & Stilettos), Judge Michael Nelson (civil rights, law, and public accountability), and Joe Little of the legendary R&B group The Rude Boys (A-1 Conversations). Together, they examine Black political leadership, faith and feminism, media ownership, the entertainment industry, and why local Black platforms have national impact.

Strategic Moves Network is more than a podcast — it’s a Black-owned media ecosystem built to elevate Black voices, challenge power, and shape culture through real conversations and community-driven storytelling.

“Is Voting Black Racist… Or Is It Responsible?”

Is Voting Black Racist… Or Is It Responsible? In this episode of Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell & Dr. Heather Burton, we push past the noise and get real about what “voting Black” truly means — not just for identity, but for survival, safety, policy, and real political power in communities like Cleveland.

This isn’t a surface conversation. We connect the dots: ShotSpotter, safety spending, crime rates, the consent decree, and the constant political promises that leave our neighborhoods holding the short end of the stick. If voting is our power, then we need to understand how public safety, budget decisions, and leadership failures affect our daily lives — and how our vote can shift it.

Is “voting Black” tribalism… or is it a smart, strategic response to a system that has never centered our needs unless we force it to?
You’ll hear unfiltered truth, backed-up receipts, and the kind of political clarity every voter deserves before stepping into that booth.

If you want your vote to mean something, if you want better leadership, and if you’re tired of policies that look good in press conferences but fail in our neighborhoods — this episode is your fuel.

Cleveland on Edge: SNAP Crisis, Government Shutdown & Election Accountability | Strategic Moves w/ Kenn Dowell

Cleveland’s leaders speak out as the federal government shutdown threatens SNAP benefits and puts families, businesses, and communities at risk. On this episode of Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell — featuring Pastor Phillips, Councilman Richard Starr, and Jasmine Butler from Congresswoman Shontel Brown’s office — we break down what’s really happening behind the scenes.

From potholes to policy, Kenn and Dr. Birding call out the system, explain how Clevelanders can fight back, and discuss how “Elections have consequences.”
This is real talk — no filters, no fluff — straight from the heart of Cleveland politics.

A fiery exchange over whether to call your councilperson or 311 for potholes, police issues, and other city services — real Cleveland talk at its best.

Are We Blaming The Wrong People For Broken Homes?

Why Are We Blaming The Wrong People For Broken Homes? In this hard-hitting episode of Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell, Dr. Heather E. Burton and Judge Michael Nelson confront one of the most damaging myths in the Black community — that Black women are the primary reason for household instability. But is that the truth?

This conversation pulls back the curtain on systemic racism, mass incarceration, welfare policy, and economic sabotage that have destabilized Black families for generations. From the Section 8 trap to the way social programs penalize marriage and fatherhood, the episode reveals how toxic family environments often stem from larger societal forces, not just individual decisions.

We also explore how the government and media narratives have shifted blame away from systemic structures and onto Black mothers. This is a call for truth, healing, and family counseling rooted in justice and awareness.

If you're ready to challenge false narratives and look deeper into the real causes of dysfunction in our families, this episode is for you.

Why Are Some Leaders Working Against Us? Dr. Umar EXPOSES the 5 Families Destroying Black America! | Black leaders, Coonocracy, systemic betrayal, media corruption, Black church, failed politics, and cultural sellouts—Dr. Umar breaks it all down.

This isn’t an interview—it’s an indictment.

In this explosive episode of Strategic Moves with Kenn Dowell, Dr. Umar Johnson goes nuclear on the Black bourgeoisie. From media mouthpieces and political gatekeepers to sanitized educators, disconnected entrepreneurs, and prosperity pastors who preach pacification, no one is safe.

🔥 Dr. Umar doesn’t bite his tongue. He shreds the veil.

🎯 Key Bombshells Inside:

The rise of the "Coonocracy" and how it’s authentic Black leadership

Why are many elected officials paid to stay silent and passive?

The Black church’s dangerous role in comforting, not confronting, oppression

How Black suburbia sold out urban struggle

The truth about disorganization as our biggest threat, not racism alone

🧠 Whether you love him or hate him, Dr. Umar forces the mirror in front of Black America—and the reflection is uncomfortable.

📢 Share this. Debate this. Just don’t ignore it.
